St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem was the first hospital in the occupied Palestinian territories hospital to receive the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. JCI, a US-based organisation, sets the highest global standards for patient safety and service quality in healthcare facilities worldwide.

Honoured for Visionary Impact
In 2023, the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group (SJEHG) was honoured with the António Champalimaud Vision Award, receiving a €1 million prize in recognition of its long-standing charitable commitment to providing eye care in the Holy Land.
Established in 2006, the António Champalimaud Vision Award is the largest and most prestigious accolade in the field of vision. It celebrates both leadership in scientific discovery and humanitarian impact. The award is administered by the António Champalimaud Foundation, established by the late Portuguese industrialist António Champalimaud, and headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal, with global reach and influence.
