JAMAL’S STORY
Jamal Radwan, a two-year-old from Azzoun near Qalqilia in the northern West Bank, had a noticeable issue with his eyes from birth. “His eyes looked cloudy, like something was covering them,” recalls his mother, Thekrayat.
After a month with no improvement, Jamal’s family consulted an eye doctor who diagnosed him with bilateral infantile and juvenile nuclear cataract. He was referred to St. John Eye Hospital Group in Jerusalem, where he successfully underwent surgery, including Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation.
With the generous support of Qatar Fund For Development, the surgery cost was covered. Now, Jamal is feeling better, enjoying clearer vision, and is able to play and do daily activities with ease.
His mother, Thekrayat, says the family is grateful for the support they received to treat Jamal, especially since they are facing financial difficulties. Their challenges have been compounded by the fact that Jamal’s older brother is also undergoing treatment for head injuries sustained in a car accident on his way to school.
