OUR MISSION
St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group (SJEHG) transforms lives by saving sight in one of the world’s most complex and historically significant regions. Decades of conflict have left many in the Holy Land without access to even the most basic healthcare.

Our Vision: Saving Sight, Changing Lives
SJEHG will work to address avoidable blindness in the Holy Land and be recognised as the leader in the provision of quality eye care in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

We are the only charitable provider of expert eye care in the region, delivering services through our hospitals, clinics, and outreach programmes in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. For over 140 years, we have treated all patients — regardless of ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay.
Our flagship hospital in East Jerusalem manages many of the most complex eye cases, with referrals from across our network of hospitals and clinics. The hospital features a busy outpatient department, specialist units, operating theatres, and a 24-hour emergency eye care service.
We are proud to be the first hospital in the occupied Palestinian territories to be awarded Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — a globally recognised mark of excellence in patient safety and clinical care.
With poverty and unemployment continuing to rise across the region, ensuring free and accessible eye care has never been more vital.
