RASLAN’S STORY
Raslan Fathi Al Saqqa, a four-year-old Palestinian refugee, lives in Bethlehem in the Southern West Bank with his parents, brother, and two sisters. The family’s poor financial status made any medical issues particularly challenging. One day, they noticed something unusual in Raslan’s eyes, so he was prescribed glasses. However, he remained uncomfortable, and the issue persisted.
Seeking professional help, the family was advised to visit St. John Eye Hospital Group. They first went to SJEHG Hospital in Hebron, where Raslan was diagnosed with monocular exotropia in his right eye and clarified that glasses were unnecessary.
After several check-ups, it was decided that Raslan should undergo surgery to correct his vision at the main hospital in Jerusalem. Thanks to the generous support of the Qatar Fund for Development the surgery expenses were covered, providing some financial relief to the family. Raslan successfully underwent the procedure and began his recovery, allowing him to return to his childhood with clear vision and bringing joy and relief to his family.
