Zakat Donations to SJEHG
This Ramadan and beyond, your Zakat can bring light to lives and restore sight to those most in need across Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.
Zakat is a powerful act of giving — a sacred obligation that helps lift those in need out of hardship. At St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group, your Zakat donation supports our patients, many of whom live in some of the most marginalised and conflict-affected areas of the Holy Land.

How We Use Your Zakat
In the occupied Palestinian territories, access to essential eye care is a daily challenge. Medical supplies are limited, and thousands suffer needlessly from preventable blindness.
Every year, over one third of our patients are children. And for every £1 donated, 93p goes directly to our charitable work.

Why do Major Gifts Matter?
In recent years, some 44% of our running costs have been covered by patient-related income – private payments from patients who can afford to contribute, as well as from insurance schemes. Additional funding has come from both voluntary donations and partner agencies such as UNRWA and USAID. However, ongoing political instability both in the region and globally is making it more difficult to secure these traditional sources of funding. As a result, our ability to continue delivering expert care to the most vulnerable – refugees, children, the elderly and those living in poverty, relies more than ever on the generosity of our supporters.
Maximise Your Impact
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase your Zakat donation at no extra cost by adding Gift Aid. This means we can do even more with your generosity.
Together, we can bring the gift of sight to those who need it most.
